ETIRA at Paperworld 2009 in Frankfurt

ETIRA meets at 2009 Paperworld trade show

ETIRA Members met on 1 February in Frankfurt, in the framework of the Paperworld trade show.

The late afternoon/dinner meeting provided great informal networking possibilities for Members. New Members from Russia (OPS), Serbia (Tutoric) were also attending. Pictured above from left to right are ETIRA President Christian Wernhart (Embatex), talking to Mrssrs. Egor Mashanskiy and Konstantin Mashanskiy of new ETIRA Member company OPS of Moscow, Russia.

The “Member's Only” networking session was addressed by Dr Michael Gell of Xanfeon consultants, who presented the results of his recent study measuring the carbon footprint of new and compatible cartridges against its remanufactured equivalent.
The study confirmed that carbon emissions are up to 45% lower in case of 2-4 cycles, and can go up to 60% lower in case of additional cycles ! In fact, 6+ reman cycles are not illusory: recently, Cartridge World presented a b/w toner cartridge which was remanufactured 25 (!) times, thus diverting 28 kg away from landfill, emitting 65 kg less CO2, and saving the end-user 1,100 euro !
